Stephen Sans

Stephen Sans is a custom typeface created for use in Stephen Vuillemin's comic book Les nourritures extraterrestres, published by Denoël, a renowned French publishing house. Based directly on Vuillemin's own handwriting, the typeface was designed to give his work an authentic, personal feel. To capture the natural spontaneity of handwritten text, I incorporated a pseudo-random method where three variants of each letter change automatically, giving the digital typeface an organic, hand-drawn quality that preserves the unique characteristics of Vuillemin's original writing.
